Trailhead Facilities are Coming to the Eisenbahn State Trail at Rusco Road in West Bend

Washington County started work on its Trailhead Facilities Project at Rusco Road in West Bend.  The project was initially spearheaded by Bike Friendly West Bend and includes a coordinated effort between this community group, Washington County and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

“When elected, I pledged to focus on the people,” said County Executive Josh Schoemann.  “This project is not only something that the residents in Washington County have asked for, it’s something that they took action to work towards.  Bike Friendly West Bend, including Jeff Puetz and Kine Torinus, should be commended for their commitment and perseverance on this project.  We’re delighted to be able to finally bring this project forward for our trail users and residents of Washington County.”

The project includes the addition of 12 parking stalls, bike racks, dog and bike repair stations, additional signage and space for portable restrooms.  It is expected to relieve parking issues on Rusco Road.  The project is estimated to cost roughly $42,000 and is fully funded by a Recreational Trail Aids Grant from the DNR and private contributions raised through Bike Friendly West Bend.
