Posted on 01/14/2023

On 1/4/2023 at approximately 4:26pm the Washington County Communications Center received a phone call from a Town of Jackson resident indicating a subject had come to their front door requesting to use a phone.  The subject made a short phone call using the homeowner’s cell phone and after the subject ended the call, he made threatening statements toward the homeowner.  The homeowner indicated the subject left on foot and provided a physical description, clothing description and direction of travel for the subject.  The homeowner also recognized the subject as a registered sex offender who resided at 1725 Cty Tk NN in the Town of Jackson.

A Deputy arrived at the caller’s house approximately 2 minutes after the initial call into dispatch.  The Deputy was able quickly verify the identity of the subject that had come to the callers house.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Department of Corrections since the subject was under their supervision and the DOC issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.  The Sheriff’s Office also verified that the suspect was on active GPS monitoring with the DOC and requested they provide us with his current location.   The subject was tracked walking on foot generally in a north, northwesterly direction.  The suspect proceeded through an area which mostly consisted on agricultural fields, wooded fence lines and woodlots.

As the suspect continued to travel on foot we requested the assistance of the West Bend Police Department in setting up a perimeter to locate the suspect.   The Washington County Sheriff Office SWAT team began to respond to the area as well, to assist with a perimeter and area search for the suspect.  Shortly before the SWAT team arrived on scene the suspect was located by a Washington County Deputy utilizing a drone with inferred capabilities and the Deputy was able to direct two West Bend Police Officers, in the area assisting with the incident, to the suspect’s location.  The suspect was taken into custody by the West Bend Officers without incident.  The suspect had walked on foot approximately 1.5 miles from the location of the original call to where he was taken into custody just south of Whispering Pines Drive in the Town of Trenton.

The suspect was transported to the Washington County Jail by Deputies and is currently being held in Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct and a Wisconsin Department of Corrections warrant.  The successful apprehension of the suspect was made possible because of the assistance and coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, the Washington County Communications Center, the West Bend Police Department and the information provided to the Sheriff’s Office by the original caller.
