A Next Generation Housing Kick-Off event was held in 2021 in collaboration with key local and business leaders. This was a first-time discussion to reveal key facts from a recent housing study for Washington County, as well as solicit thoughts and ideas from residents who are addressing this vital issue.
The staple of the American Dream is going extinct. We are shutting out countless families from homeownership unless we create more "missing middle" housing. The goal of Next Generation Housing is to develop 1000 smaller owner-occupied houses in Washington County in the next decade. Groundbreaking on the first pilot project of 101 units took place in May 2023 in the Village of Jackson.
