On Sunday November 23, 2025 at approximately 12:00pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a barn fire on Decorah Road in the Town of Trenton. The caller reported hearing an explosion before seeing smoke and flames coming from the structure.

The Newburg Fire Department was paged and quickly upgraded the structure fire to the box level. The following Fire Departments responded with equipment to assist: West Bend, Fillmore, Boltonville, Port Washington, Grafton, Saukville, Belgium, Cedarburg, Jackson, Waubeka, Fredonia, St Lawrence, and Slinger. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded and upon arrival of the first deputy the structure was found to be unoccupied with fire coming from the structure, and heavy smoke in the area.

Upon arrival of the Newburg Fire Department the structure fire was quickly brought under control, containing the fire to the lower portion of the structure. Decorah Road was closed for approximately two and half hours to assist in firefighting efforts. There were no reported injuries to fire personnel as a result of the fire. The damage is estimated at $75,000. The fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
