On 09/01/2025 at 5:18pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center took a report of a structure fire on Cty Tk Q west of Cty Tk K. A neighbor reported that the adjacent property's detached garage was on fire. Deputies and the Hartford Fire Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival of the first units the detached garage was found to be fully engulfed. Hartford Fire upgraded the response to the Working Still level. The fire was contained to the detached garage and extinguished. Through the investigation it was found that the owner had been burning earlier in the day and that hot embers likely ignited material near the garage which then spread. The garage and its contents are considered a total loss, with an approximate value of $70,000.

Hartford Fire was assisted by the Richfield, Slinger, Ashippun, Neosho and Merton Fire Departments, as well as Lifestar Rescue and WE Energies.
