Case: Two Vehicle Fatal Crash on Hwy 41 at Hwy 28
Authority: Sgt Brad Rodich #115
On 02/11/2026 at 12:08pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a two vehicle crash on Hwy 41 southbound just south of Hwy 28. One of the callers reported that a subject was trapped in a vehicle and not responsive. Deputies, along with Allenton Fire and EMS were subsequently dispatched to the scene. The Dodge County Sheriff’s office had also received calls and dispatched their own deputies along with Theresa Fire and Mayville EMS.
Upon arrival of first units on scene, the driver and sole occupant of the sedan was found to be deceased in the vehicle. The occupants of the other vehicle, a Dodge County Highway Department work truck towing a trailer, were uninjured.
The initial investigation and the witness statements showed that the Dodge County Highway Department truck and trailer was southbound in the inside lane with its work lights activated. The vehicle slowed to turn into a “Official Vehicles Only” median turn-around south of Hwy 28. The southbound sedan was behind the work truck and struck the trailer before subsequently striking the shoulder side guard rail.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded to complete additional scene documentation. Hwy 41 southbound was closed from Hwy 28 to Hwy D for approximately three hours for the emergency response, documentation and cleanup efforts. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team who assisted with the interstate closure and detour.
