Leonard J. Yahr Park
Leonard J. Yahr County Park, opened in 2007, is the newest addition to the Washington County Park System and spans 65 acres. Located in the Town of Farmington, just north of County Road A at 7999 Orchard Valley Road, West Bend, WI 53090, the park features a rental house, a beach on Erler Lake, picnic areas, and a scenic trail.
The property has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s, when it was owned by the Carl Erler family and operated first as a sawmill and later as a sulfur match factory in the late 1870s. In 1943, Leonard and Ruth Yahr acquired the land, transforming it into a dairy farm and later an apple orchard. In 1999, the Yahr family generously donated the property to Washington County for use as a county park.
